The foot valve is a check valve installed at the end of the pump suction pipe, usually equipped with a filter screen, which is mainly used to prevent liquid backflow in the pipeline after the pump is shut down and reduce impurities into the pump body. When the water pump starts, the foot valve opens under the action of suction; When the pump stops, the valve clack automatically closes to keep the suction pipe full of liquid and help the pump start smoothly.

The main function of the foot valve

The foot valve features both check and filtration functions. It effectively prevents backflow, reduces the need for repeated pump priming, and minimizes the risk of debris entering the pipeline and the pump.

Reasonable selection of the bottom valve is conducive to improving the operation efficiency and stability of the water supply system.

Application field of foot valve

The foot valve is widely used in agricultural irrigation, industrial water supply, building water supply and drainage, water treatment system and well pumping and other scenes, especially for the pump system that needs to keep the suction pipe filled with liquid.

How to select the proper foot valve?

When selecting the foot valve, the valve material, nominal diameter, working pressure, medium characteristics and filter screen specification shall be taken into consideration.

For clean water system, cast iron or ductile iron foot valve can be selected according to actual working conditions; For corrosive services, more suitable corrosion resistant materials shall be evaluated.

The reliable foot valve can effectively protect the water pump, reduce the backflow problem of the pipeline and provide stable guarantee for the water supply system.
