Explain what a Y filter is

In fire fighting, industrial pipeline, water supply and drainage and other scenes, there will be rust, welding slag, sand and other impurities in the pipeline for a long time. These impurities flow with the medium, easy to wear the water pump seal, and block the valve channel and jam the precision instrument, which will lead to equipment failure and system shutdown, which will greatly increase the maintenance cost.

The Y-filter is a protection device that can solve such problems. Because of its Y-shaped structure, it is called Y-shaped filter. Its core design is the 45 ° inclined screen structure. It relies on the screening effect of the filter screen, without external power, and allows impurities to naturally settle at the bottom of the cavity through the pressure of the pipe itself, so as to intercept impurities. It is the most widely used and cost-effective simple filtration equipment in the pipeline system.

The overall structure of Y-type filter is simple, consisting of five parts: valve body, stainless steel filter screen, blowdown end cover, sealing gasket and fastening bolt. There is no precision accessories, but the working stability is very strong.

When the impurity accumulates too much and the pressure difference of the pipeline rises, just close the front and rear valves and remove the bottom blowdown end cover after pressure relief, then the filter screen can be pulled out for washing and cleaning. The whole process of maintenance is simple and fast, without dismantling the pipeline, greatly reducing the difficulty of operation and maintenance.

Compared with the T-type filter, the core advantage of the Y-type filter is very suitable for the conventional pipeline working condition: the Y-type filter is small in volume and is very suitable for installation in narrow space; It will not affect the overall flow of the pipeline; Low cost, long service life, suitable for most conventional media.

For customers who want to buy a Y-filter, there are some questions to consider:

Standard system: national standard GB shall be implemented for domestic projects. German standard DIN, American standard ASME, Japanese standard JIS, etc. are commonly used for foreign trade projects. Under different standards, the flange size and bolt hole position of the filter are not universal, and you must distinguish which standard you need to purchase.

Connection mode: thread connection is preferred for small diameter DN50 and below, which is more convenient for assembly and disassembly; Large diameter above DN50 shall be flanged.

DN and PN: the conventional pipeline shall be directly matched with the diameter. The diameter of the inlet filter of the water pump shall not be less than the pump inlet to avoid cavitation damage caused by throttling; DN must be greater than the maximum working pressure.

Material of valve body and filter screen shall be confirmed separately: material of valve body is not equal to material of filter screen. Generally, the valve body of ordinary water system is made of nodular cast iron and strainer 304; For seawater and chlorine-containing medium, the shell 316L/2205 shall be matched synchronously with the filter screen. The shell stainless steel is not allowed. The filter screen is still made of ordinary carbon steel, which will cause the perforation failure of the filter screen.

Reasonably select the mesh number of filter screen: the higher the mesh number is, the higher the filtration accuracy is, but the resistance is large and easy to be blocked. Y type belongs to coarse filtration equipment, and it is not recommended to use 150 meshes and 200 meshes for long-term operation; If the process requires high precision filtration, it is recommended to replace the basket filter.
