The valve disc of wafer butterfly valves is generally divided into three shapes

Thin valve disc without reinforcing ribs: Cast iron valve discs without reinforcing ribs are generally of better quality than those with reinforcing ribs because the disc is thicker. However, for stainless steel, valve discs with reinforcing ribs are better because the disc thickness is the same, and the reinforcing ribs enhance the disc’s resistance to corrosion.

Valve discs with reinforcing ribs are further divided into those with and without pins. Those without pins are generally better because the pin area is prone to rusting and slight leakage.

Thick valve discs are the most expensive. The most cost-effective valve disc can be selected based on the actual working conditions and media.
